Looksi Privacy Policy

Looksi is made by Nour Halawani, 71 Rifa'ah Al-Ansari Street, Amman, Jordan ("we"). Contact: nourhalawaniapps@gmail.com.

1. The short version

We do not collect your data. Looksi has no account, no ads and no analytics, and it sends nothing to us. Your projects stay on your devices. We only receive something if you email us.

2. What stays with you, not us

Looksi stores your projects on your device: scripts, schedules, call sheets, team names and positions, notes, looks, continuity photos and department rates. We never receive them, never see your script, and cannot recover them.

You, or the production you work for, decide what goes into a project and who it is shared with. For that data, you or the production are responsible under data-protection law, including getting consent to photograph actors and, for minors, their parents or guardians.

3. Where your project data goes

• Your team's devices. Looksi syncs a project with team members' devices that are nearby: on the same local network, or directly between Apple devices within about one room, with no network joined. Messages between devices are encrypted with a key kept in the project folder, so anyone who can read the project folder or its backups could also read them.
• Your network and nearby devices. To find each other, a device with a project open announces its device name (for example "Nour's iPad"), a code for the project and a random code that identifies the device, to the local network and to Apple devices within about one room. Anyone on that network, or within that range, can see these three things, but not the project's content.
• A Soundi sound mixer you invite (Looksi - Costume only). If you invite a sound mixer who uses Soundi, their device can read, over the same nearby connection, the characters' and cast names, costume notes, looks and look photos (with location and camera data removed). It cannot read the script, notes, budget, rates or team details. Looksi: Hair & Makeup does not offer this.
• The project folder. A project is an ordinary folder on your device. Looksi only reads and writes files in it and has no link to any file-sharing service. If you copy or sync that folder with a service of your own, that service handles it under its own privacy policy.
• Backups. On iPhone and iPad, demo projects and projects received by handover are in the app's Documents folder, which is included in iCloud and computer backups.
• Files you export or send. Excel and PDF exports, and the Designer's photo folder export (ordinary, unencrypted pictures), go wherever you put or send them. On iPad an export is first written to the app's private cache folder and removed from there when the share sheet closes.

4. Encryption

If you set a project key, Looksi encrypts the script, schedule, schedule revisions, call sheets, the scene list made for phones, and continuity photos and their thumbnails. Department rates are always encrypted. Other project files, including notes, looks, the team list and the change log, are stored unencrypted, so anyone with access to the project folder can read them. A project key or member key you enter is remembered in your device's keychain; the key that encrypts messages between devices is stored, unencrypted, in the project folder.

5. Photos

Continuity photos you import are copied into the project as they are. The original photo may contain location (GPS) and camera data; thumbnails do not. A photo taken with Looksi's own camera on iPhone or iPad is saved without the camera's location data, and a copy of it also stays in the app's private cache folder on that device. Remove location data from photos before importing them if that matters to you.

6. What we receive, and only if you choose

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you. We do not use your email for anything else.

7. Purchases

Looksi has no purchases at present. If purchases or subscriptions are added, they will go through Apple. Apple handles payment and shares no payment details with us. We will update this policy before that happens.

8. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of, or to delete, any emails we hold from you: write to nourhalawaniapps@gmail.com. You can complain to your data-protection authority. For project data, we hold nothing: delete the project folder and the app to remove it from a device.

9. Children

Looksi is a tool for professional crews and is not directed at children.

10. Changes

We will update this page and its date when anything changes, and say so in the app's release notes.
